Courtesy Boat Inspectors Wanted:

The 30 Mile River Watershed Association (30MRWA) is seeking Courtesy Boat Inspectors (CBIs) for the 2012 summer season. CBIs are the “first line of defense” against invasive aquatic plants, preventing plant fragments found hitchhiking on boats and trailers from entering our lakes. CBIs work at boat launches throughout the watershed, talking with boaters and inspecting their watercraft as they launch and remove their boats.

The program runs from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, with weekends and holidays being the primary coverage times needed.  Requirements for the position include excellent communication skills with the general public, attention to detail and record-keeping, the ability to work independently, and an interest in water quality issues and education. Pay starts at $8.50/hour.  The position is ideally suited for retirees, students, and others looking for part-time weekend work.

To apply, submit an application (found below) to info@30mileriver.org or mail to:

30 Mile River Watershed Association
P.O. Box 132,
Mount Vernon, ME 04352

Applications will receive priority consideration if received by April 1, 2012; however, applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
